Some very nice garnet facet rough, presented as it came from the mines. This will challenge you, but has the definite potential to yield some nice gems.
It is from TANZANIA It is alluvial, from the Rovuma River area and has a more classic color than the excessively dark, brownish malayia being mined today.
Some of this is more pinkish/reddish than Malaya garnet "should" be so i suspect a bit of Rhodalite mix in here, but it is all fine color and most has the orange tints at angle characteristic of malaya.
4 to 12 carats - alot of stock will not get on the web for a while yet ... the above image is of what remains.
It should all give eye clean or better gems ... Surface waste, but the interiors look quite good. The colors are exceptionally nice.
We do NOT recommend any of the "from the mine" rough to beginners! Especially with rough faced pieces like this we may miss some flaws which require skilled handling. I allow for this in pricing and would not be surprised if from a lot of 3 there is 1 piece which gives low return. Still, all should give a nice gem of some size and this good material to learn on ... go figure.

I will clean up most of the "as it came from the mine rough" when i have time, it is worthy of the effort. I will not have that luxury for a while so some is offered now for your benefit - and savings to those with experience to deal with it (the price WILL be higher when cleaned up).

We have priced this material allowing for clean-up needs, offset by the spectacular colors.

This is NOT USUAL garnet, the colors in the finished gems will knock your socks off! Our measurements are fair, and do NOT include little outcrops or bumps.
